Disquietude

Feeling about as comfortable right now as Stinky in submissive pose towards the iguana in our yard. It's not entirely the overturning of Roe V. Wade either. That's made for a pretty effed up few days, reading through the decision and fearing for what it may lead to. For the record I could never have an abortion, but at the same time I could never make that same decision for anyone else. This is a personal decision that should only be between a woman and her health care advocate. I'm afraid that this overturn will cause a trickling down effect of tragedy. Women who need a D&C for a wide variety of issues not related to purposely ending a pregnancy might find it impossible to find trained providers. They may die in the process. I think back about how many I have had because I had the type of endometriosis that needed a D&C a few times a year to end severe bleeding. This was why I had to have a full hysterectomy nearly twenty years ago. Add in the possibilities, th...

Crabby and Crab Caked

Been a while. I've been busy. There's a house sitter back in the Costa Rica house feeding our multitude of cats. The brand new car is happening in mid to late July depending on how quickly it arrives. And we're here in the States for this little thing.... My lovely youngest daughter got married to a nice young man. We didn't lose a daughter, we gained a son and a grand dog.  My new son and grand dog who happened to be the Dog of Honor too! So we got here without any bumps. Flight was perfect. Airline treated me with kid gloves. The ADA accommodations were first class. Now, we've hosted this guy in the past and he's not been this nutty or offensive. The first night I found myself snapping at him over his several hour monologue-ing when I needed a sweet sweet bed. ...

Old Cars, New Cars and Falling Apart and Down

Town park in downtown La Fortuna with the local Catholic church in the background. The last 3 days have been filled with lots of crazy, bad and good. The good - On Sunday Dave apologized to Jim for hanging up on him, and still offered to fix that car, the one we just sold. Then he wanted a ride because his moped died. The bad - Bruce's jalopy has broken down every single day along with the various parts falling off or breaking. I am walking, Jim is riding his motorcycle. The crazy - One of the party goers on Saturday overheard Jim discussing the car Jim was thinking about buying, slipped in and bought it Sunday out from under us. Told us late Monday.  Tacky and cowardly to the extreme. She could have at least asked if we were still interested (not really) before the purchase. We haven't bothered to tell her that the seller is lying about the history of the car, that the underside is cracked out and broken, that the mileage gauge has been rolled back. She'll find out soon ...
