When Life Delivers What You Need!
I'm slowly trying to regain function after my recent medical fiascos that have been ongoing. Monday I scrubbed and organized my bedroom, installing a small file cabinet and printer so I can keep submitting my insurance claims. Yesterday I went shopping at the fruit stand and at the grocery store alone. Today was me attempting to do a few gardening things. I was busy clearing out planters, adding dirt and planting a zillion flower seeds. I want flowers in all colors! Very slowly regaining strength. I am determined when I fly back to the States next month I am walking, cane or no cane, none of this being wheeled around in a wheelchair.
Yesterday was a banner day. On Monday our bete noire wanted to be driven on Tuesday to the Caja for a medical appointment. She was insisting on it early. I told her no initially, Jim had meetings at school and I never get rolling that early. Then she approached Jim, who volunteered me. We had big words about that one. Particularly since this was all her and her cars being fine, she just did not want to ding them up driving up the gravel incline. I kept telling Jim why is it okay in her mind for us to tear up our car on this?
Tuesday morning rolls around and I decide to use the drive to the Caja to talk to her about her constant demands. Get in our car, drive down to pick her up. I notice our car is making weird noises. Long story short we've rattled/scraped something loose on our drives up and down out of her driveway.
I call up Jim and am yelling at him while she's hopping into our car. She shrugged and suggested we take it to our mutual mechanic. I told her no, and then explained how miserable she's making our lives this year when I've been attempting to recover from my stroke. Pointing out that the absolute nadir and breaking point for me was when she kept frantically insisting we take her daughter to school while I was trussed up with a zillion wires and tubes in the hospital. Jim and I were literally an hour away and completely unavailable and I didn't know why she couldn't knock it off once we told her we were in the hospital. While we're in the States she's done it. When she knows we're busy or sick or whatever. Our schedule or needs don't matter, just her issues.
I think I shocked her. It's been 36 or so hours and de nada. This is also with gas climbing twice within one week to a crazy high, and her never offering to put gas in the car she keeps riding around in.
Today was so incredibly peaceful and wonderful!
