When Weird Worlds Collide and Boundaries
So this exists......
I stayed primarily in my sewing room yesterday, and I napped a lot. Weird dreams, but not as weird as something I strayed into last night. Yes, Kiss and Scooby Doo did an animated movie a few years ago and I ended up watching it last night. In parts horrified, sometimes laughing and part disgusted by the money grubbing.
One has to believe that this is merely all about the money. Through the years I've seen the name "Kiss" slapped on all sorts of weird things for moolah. They are known to do anything to make some dough.
They even did a horrible live action film long ago.
Painful acting, stilted dialogue and belabored plot lines.
I watched the Scooby Doo thing last night for a couple of reasons. One, I didn't want to go out into the rest of the house because it's a sad sight. Mud tracked in by the workmen, plaster dust everywhere. For my asthma I stayed in and watched a silly movie.
Two, I have Kisstory. My step brother positively loved, LOVED, L-O-V-E-D Kiss. I took him to a few concerts with his giggling buddies when they were like 12 or 13. I was in college then and retreated safely to the parents waiting room to work on homework while Frank and pals rock n rolled all night.
During the band's first tour in the mid 70s through the area I met them. I was unimpressed. Somehow we were backstage at sound check due to knowing a guy who knew a guy. My impression at the time was that Ace and Eric were either high or drunk. Gene smelled like he hadn't bathed in weeks, and Paul was an angry young man, all hair and glare. Hot but angry. A mutual friend offered me to Gene, tried to shove me into his arms. I left in one hell of a hurry.
They weren't my kind of music by that time. I might have loved them had I encountered them back when I was stepbrother's age. Who knows. See why I always sat their concerts out when I took my stepbrother?
Years later I stumbled over Paul Stanley on a talk show talking of his autobiography. I was intrigued, as his entire vibe was now very different. I downloaded the book, read it and actually loved it. His journey from all hair and glare to real guy was fascinating.
The Scooby Doo thing was better than that awful Kiss meets the Phantom of the Park thing posted above. I got the biggest laugh out of Daphne making out with Paul, and loved the opening credits. Too bad they didn't use this style for the entire movie because I thought it was a serious upgrade from many cartoons.
Onto those boundaries. I am glad I had boundaries enough in place to resist stinky Gene. Here our gate has been open all week as the work crews come and go, and that's created a new problem. Some of our more plague ratty friends have taken the open gate to mean 'Just stroll on in and say hi!' I hadn't said anything to Jim about how uncomfortable I was with the constant flow of visitors, but he brought it up this morning.. We had a conversation and were in agreement that as soon as this is over that gate stays shut and locked. He's no more comfortable than I am with people that think they can waltz in unmasked and hang out. See why I am in hiding?
