Impressive Rollos
So we're here, in the cloud forest overlooking Cerro Chato and Volcan Arenal. It's rainy, and it looks like the local volcanos are pouring more smoke than usual into the air. The place is deserted. Which is how we ended up in a private guesthouse up the side of the volcano instead of in a regular room in the resort.
The guesthouse is lovely! We've stayed in the others, but not this large octagon shaped one before. It's got windows everywhere, which is not a problem, except in the bathroom. The shower has one wall that is a large floor to ceiling window looking out onto a passing unpaved road. I'm afraid I've scared the howler monkeys, sloths, toucans and drunk old Tico dudes on mule passing by. Because, yes, I showered there.
So far Jim has avoided it. I am about to flash some monkeys again.
Jim has been busy rushing around talking to everyone here about a new business idea he has. I hope he does it because it will keep him out of my hair. I'm just freaking sick of hearing about it. It's an old idea of his, that he changed his mind about, that he's changed his mind again. I don't care, just stay out of my hair and stop repeating everything he says.
Me? I've been thrilled with the fact that the guesthouse has those same leather and mahogany rockers we have at the house. Most comfortable chairs of all time. These aren't as fancily hand tooled as ours, but they'll do. I've spent a serious chunk of time last night and this evening in those chairs reading. I look forward to coming here to sit on the balcony and read. It just happens to be too chilly with the rain so I'm indoors.
We were pigs this afternoon. We went to our favorite chocolate shop, got ice cream cones, and I got handmade chocolates, while Jim got an iced mocha. Normally we go there and I end up with organic cocoa powder. I have a large bag I bought in Monteverde. One thing the chocolate shop had that make me laugh my ass off is big chocolate penises. Some were dipped with a tiny amount of dripping white chocolate. I got photos, expect to see them show up very sneakily as an NLQ graphic.
Tomorrow we go back to the ocean in the afternoon. There will be shopping along the way. Jim is looking to pick up an electric piano, while I've been pricing a replacement guitar.
On the church confloption I have noticed that Bobby and Jenn are now mercilessly snipped from all team correspondence. After overhearing Jenn angrily blaming Beth for Bobby leaving I think it's for the best. I know I said I was ride or die with Bobby and Jenn, but that was before I overheard that nasty conversation. You do not try to emotionally tear down a shy, quiet, introverted nice girl in her late teens/early twenties when you are 50 plus until you have some big nasty issues. They crossed a line with me.
I've always said that people will tell you who they are really eventually if you wait long enough. All I saw over the last year was the smiling faces of two people. Sadly that hid that they were harboring anger about stupid things. The true colors emerged over the silly song selection.
And yet again my internet bete noire showed their true colors by posting on the same subject I did some hours after me. They haven't pulled the borderline plagiarism in a long time.
I'm going to forget all about that, have a rollo or three, flash some monkeys and go to bed. Tomorrow is indeed another damn day. One of the fun things I did was pick up three rollos/schenecken at three different bakeries this week, and compare them side by side. Hands down the cheap bakery in Huacas wins! No more traipsing to Liberia for cinnamon rolls.
